Sunrise and Sunset Times in Ireland

Pick a county or one of the largest cities below. Every place has today's sunrise and sunset, twilight, golden hour, moonrise and a full-year calendar in its own local time.

Ireland lies between about 51°N and 55°N and uses Greenwich Mean Time in winter and Irish Standard Time (IST, one hour ahead) in summer. In 2026, summer time runs from 29 March to 25 October, the same dates as in the United Kingdom.

Ireland's position at the western edge of the GMT zone shapes its daylight. Galway is around 9° west of Greenwich, so the sun reaches its highest point well after midday by the clock, and in summer solar noon arrives around 1:30 p.m. As a result, Irish evenings are late: around the June solstice the sun sets after 10 p.m. in the west, and twilight lingers past 11 p.m. Mornings are correspondingly dark in winter, when sunrise in western counties comes after 8:30 a.m. Day length varies by roughly nine to ten hours between the solstices.
